Potsticker Caulfield 04/2013

Eric Wong has been in the restaurant business for a long time and he is a great survivor. To succeed on the corner of Inkerman and Hawthorn r Rd. he has to be. A lot of restaurants have failed here. What's his secret. It's simple. Good food, tasty and well cooked with that thing that Manu and Peter Evans are always commenting on in My Kitchen Rules, a good balance of flavours. Apart from that they have decent size serves, the service is helpful and efficient and the venue is pleasant. A very large Barramundi fillet was outstanding. They didn't do half as well at the Atlantic at almost double the price. Beautifully cooked and presented, the tender fish flaked gently enhanced by it's delicate light sauce. Superb. Sweet and sour prawns in batter were fresh and crisp. It's a personal thing about the sauce. We both found it just a little too sweet but the balance with its acidity was near perfect. Two simply excellent dishes.
